Dolphin watching

Our planet is teeming with beauty but it’s not every day that you get to see it. Here in Kalpitiya between November and April something remarkable happens – hundreds of dolphins come to live and feed in the Indian Ocean. Most hotels in Sri Lanka can’t offer you this dolphin watching experience. But we can. It’s nature at its purest. And we’ll take you there.

We set off early morning, heading out to the horizon. At first it seems like it’s just you and the ocean. Wave upon wave laps up against the side of the boat. Everything appears calm. Suddenly, you see a flicker of silver in the water. Then another, and another. Before you know it, you’re surrounded by hundreds of spinner dolphins.

Witness these majestic creatures frolic, feed and play. Every now and then a curious character might come up to the boat for a closer look. And watch out for the exhibitionists. They summersault and spin through the air in a spectacle of pure joy. Forget time limits. We’ll stay out for as long as you want, so you can take in every magnificent moment.

But dolphins aren’t the only intelligent animal in these parts. Many sperm whales also roam the depths. And if you’re lucky, you could even spot a blue whale. Their size, majesty and quiet wisdom stay in the mind long after your return to shore.

Seeing is believing. And this is your chance to experience one of nature’s most wondrous moments up close and personal.
